Can I use 6v DC relay as a switch in the circuit that passes 240volts.

Providing the contacts are rated at 240V with suffiecient load rating. Yes.

Yes, so long as the contacts are rated for 240V at the peak current of the bulb (typically 10 times the running current)
So, for a 100 Watt bulb a relay with 5A 250VAC contacts would be a good choice.
