Well, yes, but for the figuring *how* or *what* I do not at the keyboard, but let it happen... when I know *what* and *how*, and that often involves reading a thousand papers (well often pdfs these days), and sit down for coding, then the editor response time DOES matter. No mouse! Perhaps for some cut and paste, just typing code. I use fvwm, the old one, with 9 'desktops' or virtual screens, most with an rxvt or xterm in it. And I can change virtual screens with ctrl . MS mouse owners have never seen anything like that, their mouse^H^H^H^H^H mouth falls open and all of the sudden a new world opens for them, one of concentration.
That is what I mean, and then people wonder why it is bloat.

I dunno, I use postgresql, for packet filtering I use iptables, I have, lemme see, about 1900 entries of 'bad guys' in the iptables -L I am always surprised it does not slow down traffic. IPs are automatically added to the firewall if they misbehave, That is for example what the above script pid 3576 'dos_stop' is for, 'dos' stands here for 'Denial Of Service'.
Already running here,
23366 xdipo (satellite recording timer is set) 15017, 15018 ffmpeg, mcamip security cam recording to H264 3570 email monitoring for control from my GSM 17071, 17078 home control system (heating, water, alarms etc) 3593 alarm clock 3578 weather monitoring, lightning detection and ranging, warnings (so I know when to disconnect the 27 MHz GPA) 3594 trace_location, finds my laptop if it is lost... Lighting does not show up here, as it runs on a dedicated PIC, but is connected to /dev/ttyUSB0
??? It may help, but this system has only (from 'top'): Mem: 386028k total, 378548k used, 7480k free, 30060k buffers In spite of the real time H264 encoding the sys load is only: top - 12:33:40 up 19 days, 16:46, 12 users, load average: 0.74, 0.61, 0.68 And that with a Duron 950... LOL
