Your thoughts.

I just spent over $600 on my dog for surgery, after which, she needed to ware a plastic cone around her neck so she wouldn't scratch at the incision made there.

You can imagine how inconvenient it is for her moving about in the house how ever, I have come up with an idea ! maybe it's already been thought of ;)

They already have shock collars for dogs, why not have an RF-ID tag that can firmly be attached to the rear legs so that if the canine brings their foot up near the neck, it sends off a sock that should set well in the canine's memory!

what's your thoughts on that idea! ..

P.S. remember, this has been posted here already via me! So I have first bids! :)

The dog will quickly figure out how to rub up against a sharp corner to achieve the same effect as scratching. Stick with the cone.

I think it would be a bad idea since the dog might get to a point where it would not want to scratch it's neck or ears for fear of shock. This can be a bad thing as there are normal times where they need to scratch their ears and neck.

We have had 3 of our 4 in collars (2 knee surgeries, wound on the other one). They learn quickly how to navigate around. Anytime you are where you can watch your dog, take the collar off. Take the collar off when the dog is eating.

If your dog sleeps in a crate make sure the crate is large enough where the dog can turn around without crashing into the side.

I think that's the way your mother should have educated you for not having stupid ideas.

BTW, would you teach your kids the same way?

Yes.! More parents ought to make sure their kids don't do stupid things at home, teaches them not to do it to others out side the home.

Or, I guess we could start giving girl names to boy and let them grow up the hard way.

Actually, my dog gets treated better than my wife !:)

What else do you expect from Jamie? His family tree hasn't branched in generations. He's a real Redneck's Redneck.
