Bye, Skybuck.

It uploads a copy of your DNA to Bill Gates?

What makes you think that Skybuck is a DNA-based life-form?

He looks more like an example of artificial stupidity - bu then again, so do you.

Hey SL0WMAN, smart people can SPELL!

The google spell--checker can't find any fault with anything that I wrote. It doesn't like Skybuck, but that's a proper name, and Skybuck can't spell volume (but that's his problem).

Why Flyguy thinks he know what smart people can - or can't - do isn't a mystery - he's terminally stupid, and never misses a chance to remind us quite how stupid he is.

I'm constantly finding key sequences that do something I don't want, whether it's minimising all the windows, or logging me off and installing a new version of the operating system.

(OK, I made the second one up - I think).

A typo! And one that Google's spell-checker didn't find either. I wonder wh at it thought it was.

One of my wife's graduate students was a proof-reader before he decided to do a Ph.D. and he did mention that while professional proof-readers found a bout 95% of the defects in a document, nobody else got much more than 30% o f them, so I'm not too embarrassed about having missed it.

He's now a Reader at the University of Edinburgh, and a mate of one of my f avourite science fiction authors, so I'm inclined to take hims seriously.

Maybe it thought you meant Boston University? (bu)

Seems unlikely. A proper abbreviation would be B.U. Sadly, the google spelling-checker program will just go on what it finds in huge heaps of text that Google spreads around, and there may be a enough people using "bu" to make it acceptable.

A google search does find Boston University, but mostly as BU. There is a company " Bu Australasia - Information Technology & Services" in Darlinghurst, New South Wales, which makes them close neigbour of mine, but I've never run into them.

I'm always hitting "control" plus a letter instead of "shift". That causes all sorts of weird effects

Ummmm, Win 7 officially EOL'ed Jan 2020 - a bit behind the times eh? Anyway, what you found is the magnifier and it is a known key sequence. Congrats on your discovery Indiana Jones...(why do I have the feeling I am replying to a non-carbon based life form???)
