I can walk into any gas station and use any credit card, or just hand them a $20 bill, and be out in 5 minutes, barely enough time to squeegee the windows.

Yes, i know. They think every EV drivers are computer experts. EVs are just computers on wheels.

Hopefully, oneday, charging stations would be upgraded (downgraded) to be as convenient as gas stations. All the above complicated procedures are needed just to push a button.

Heh, imagine spending $20 for like 250 miles of driving.

What happens if you plan a trip and arrive at some critical charging station and some app doesn't compile?

How any miles and hours will you spend to get free charging?

I know people who have networked lights, ceiling fans, coffee makers, refrigerators, door locks, HVAC, everything. If their phone doesn't work, they are helpless. App managment becomes a hobby. None of that junk will work 5 years from now.

I always plan my trip for new or unfamiliar stations, make sure i have enough to go somewhere else. If not, wire up the emergency battery backup and inverter. Haven't call a toll truck yet.

I top off my windshield washer fluid and go.

And imagine spending an extra hour or so charging. Or waiting to charge. Or driving out of your way to charge.

Lots of people are obsessive penny-pinchers, especially electric car owners. Their time isn't worth minimum wage.

Most people sleep and that's a good time to charge because usually you're not driving and sleeping simultaneously

The kids these days are ruining everything by spending money on frivolities like avocado toast and $400 phones. Also ruining the economy by not spending money

Tesla drivers do that.

Full automation seems to be the way of the future.

Anyway, if you live outside your means you're a fool and if you live within your means you're a loser, the kids these days have got the message well enough. Probably why they're going to overthrow the government, hang you all and build a fully-automated gay space communist society sooner or later. Welp, don't say I didn't warn you.

Spending improves the economy? Then the people of Mozambique just need to spend more to be prosperous like us.

It's the dollar multiplication economic theory. If I pay you to cut my lawn, and you pay me to cut your lawn, GDP and tax revenues both go up.

No, economies don't run on money they run on energy. And for most of industrialized history an "economy" might be defined as a thermodynamic system for converting low-entropy fossil fuels into higher-entropy states, whether fossil-fuel derived products or waste heat. Essentially the "size" of this type of economy is defined by its waste heat output.

Or if I crash my $$ car into your $$ car, we both claim on insurance and buy new cars, while some repair shop repairs the cars and re-sells them. What looked at first like a loss turns out to be a win all round.

Contributions to increasing GDP in every direction. It's a wonder that governments spend any money on road safety when they could boost GDP more by neglecting roads and traffic lights.

It's a wonder the US government sends out all that pandemic economic hardship money to keep people safe at home when they could just do not much and force people to get back out there to work producing more product, perhaps risking their lives in the process, or not eat or have anywhere to live.
