Hi All,
I am using Nokia cell phone as developing device.
I use its USB D+ and USB D- as output. When it connect to PC, the drive supports to COM port.
However, I can't connect the phone to other device directly.
Because it is USB signal, can I use a USB to UART converter ( chip ) to connect them ?
I heard I need a host ( include OS ..... so much devices ), is that true ?

No. Wrong way round. You have a USB 'slave' device in the phone, which implements a serial port emulation. This is identical in function to the USB to UART converter. You need a device the 'other way round', to allow you to talk to the existing emulation.

There are 'simplified' host devices, that may be able to interface to a basic USB 'com' device like this. Do a search for the 'Vinculum' chip, which is such a device.

However, the chip is about EURO$ 2. ( == US$ 2 ? ), I am wondering, is any more cheaper?

If it is for a one-off or a small run, you might be fine. Or you could consider a phone that has real UART outputs, or rework your device to use USB.
The phone is Nokia devices, I think I have to modify our circuit.
It seems no Nokia phone support real UART signal ( it seems are all USB emulated ? )
