6 TRUTHS OF LIFE

  1. You cannot stick your tongue out and look at the ceiling at the same time.

  2. All idiots, after reading #1 will try it.

  1. And discover #1 is a lie.

  2. You are smiling now because you are an idiot.

  1. You soon will forward this to another idiot.

  2. There is still a stupid smile on your face

Far more useful:

You breathe out of one nostril at a time. Every ~90 minutes this toggles.

Now, are you going to *measure* it? :>

Small self heat/measure thermistor stuck up each nostril.

Wonder if they'd provide better info if in a bridge config.

Eeeeoo! X-(

No doubt. I'm not sure you'll find many folks willing to let you stick either side of the bridge in!

The toggle on mine is overdue by about, oh lets say, about 2 months. Averages can be misleading.

It is also known that your ability to solve certain types of problems depends on which nostril you are breathing through at the time.

You don't need self-heating, or to actually put the thermistor into the nostril. Air coming out of the lungs is at body core temperature, and a thermistor of short enough time constant placed 1/2 inch from the nostril opening will show a very strong fluctuation with each breath, as long as the ambient is lower than 37C. Another thermistor can be in the vicinity but not in the direct flow, to be subtracted. Then, block DC one way or another. I rigged up something like this to test myself for sleep apnea (not differential between nostrils).

There's a famous story about Lev Landau (physicist)--he was sitting in a meeting of the USSR Academy of Sciences listening to someone presenting a paper purporting to show that scientific creativity reached a peak at times of maximum solar activity. Landau leaned across to a colleague and said, "Yes, but this paper was conceived in a deep solar minimum."

This is because the hemispheres similarly "alternate" in dominance (the nasal phenomenon is a consequence of this)

That happens for roughly 1/3 of the population, I read somewhere.

I used to do that, but I got it fixed. All that cold air rushing into my head startled me for a while.

All that hot air rushing out of it startles the rest of us, I suppose.
