The datasheet says that the "B" version has power good indicator and that the part is available both in TSOP-5 and WDFN. Both drawings show where the PG pin is supposed to be. But only the "A" version in TSOP-5 is available on the market. What is the purpose of specifying the part in such a misleading way?

Fishing for big sales. We do that too sometimes, mention an option or a feature that we could do, to see if anyone is interested. It's not misleading; it says to contact your rep.
It's probably just a wirebond option.
I agree with the above, but then why not just connect the PG pad to a pin which is otherwise NC in the "A" variant and have one uniform part? The "B" would significantly simplify me a section of a circuit, but the minor issue is that it does not exist in TSOP-5.

Why are you asking us instead of the company rep? Maybe they have plans to produce the other package variant but just need a bit more incentive?
