Solar-panel maximum, 6% higher

Boston has digital weather--too cold or too hot. Where I live in NY we have the same issue, but our duty cycle is a bit more favourable. ;)

Cheers

It cost 34k, 4.5 years ago (much less now).

It's just now paying itself off, after 4.5 years. Forget SRECs? Without that, it'd be 7.5 years. Without any incentives, it'd be 15 yrs, still OK.

My roof isn't ideal. It's 45-deg south-south-west. But I get extra late afternoon sun, not so bad.

But, if we had super-cheap electricity ...

Thanks, - Win

When you say non-ideal, it doesn't sound far off to me. I believe mine is

e. I expect there is a weighting to the summer/winter angles which would a lso factor in average cloud cover to give a truly optimum angle. Most like ly that optimum is more toward the summer months so a bit higher is better. I don't recall where you are.

My roof faces SW so that part is not optimal. I'm sure the panels can be p laced on supports to tilt them more toward the south. But like I've said b efore, I'm not taking down my trees. I like my trees. I could take down s ome of the woods to have space for panels on the ground. Or I could build a garage and place them on that. I could be down with that. Then I could spec the structure for optimal orientation of the panels. Heck, if I wante d to get fancy, I could build a boat house and put them on that. Zero shad ing of any kind plus open terrain for breezes cooling the array and extra i nsolation from the reflection off the water. :)

At least it is not very cold in Boson today. 60 High 50s for a low.

Last couple times I was there (February and/or March within the last 5 years) it was freezing cold with LOTS of snow !
