Solar cheaper than nuclear

It makes a lot more sense to burn hundred-million year-old forests.

That's why so many companies are involved with Solar energy!

Hi,

solar plants under construction:

"Gigantic Solar Plants in Nevada Slated for Fast Tracking

407MW Solar PV Plants to be Followed by Many More The idea of utilizing deserts to generate solar power is an attractive one. Of course, they would come with their own ecological price, but some claim that solar power stations in a few deserts could power the entire world - and that's got to be an improvement on mountaintop removal and tar sands"

"Solar Industry Creates Scheme to Recycle Solar Panels in Europe As solar panels become more mainstream and a higher volume of them is produced, they are bound to attract more attention from regulators. Many of the biggest companies that make solar panels have decided to preempt that wave of regulation by voluntarily joining up and creating the first large-scale scheme to recycle solar panels in Europe. The goal is to have the system in place by the end of this year."

and need to be

Unless they are on the roof of a house, or do you not go inside houses with solar panels on them? :)

cheers, Jamie

Absolutely. Civilian nuclear power is always completely separate, as demonstrated by India and Pakistan. That is why, I am sure, all of us here support Irans nuclear power program too.

Do you actually meant "practical"? Claiming that solar power isn't practical is terribly myopic and a clear sign of ignorance, if not stupidity. Yet, as you mentioned subsidies as a means to make a technology practical I suspect that you actually meant to say that solar isn't economical, which is also at best debatable.

You appear to be confused. The "market" doesn't have any relation with the practicality of a technology. It is quite possible to have a practical solution which is priced out of a market.

Your showing your ignorance once again. Do you actually know anything regarding solar power?

false?

Do pay attention to reality.

Wherever money is involved, there will be fraud. Science included.

Not to mention India and now Vietnam, though it's the US enabling the proliferation in those cases. Brazil and Japan next?

That may be true of the free research, but the liability limitation is priceless. Nuclear power simply couldn't exist without it.

It doesn't need to be otherwise. All forms of producing, transmitting, converting and storing energy have losses. That doesn't prevent us from doing any of these things.

Production of hydrocarbons from CO2+H2O using solar energy has been going on much longer than humans have been around.

With NK having the bomb, I don't see how Japan has a choice. In fact, that's the way to get NK checked; threaten China with a Japanese bomb. Give Japan a pile of 'em if China doesn't muzzle the mutt.
