Software for PIC16F917- problems with current consumption

HI,

the problem is very accurate.

We have a big current consumption on microchip PIC16F917. Does anyone know how and where shut down a some devices in PIC to make a current consumption lower?

Can you give me a list of stuff what needs to be shutdown (comparators, A/D converter etc).

Best regards Emil Nadj

What does "big current consumption" mean? Is the current consumption within specs for the device or is it abnormal? You may have a short or a bad device. Be sure the Vdd voltage is correct and not excessive. Are there any ports set as outputs that are being pulled high or low by external circuitry? All ports with external sources of current should be set as inputs. Do not run the chip at a higher clock speed than necessary. Do not enable any functions that are not used, USARTS, ADC's, Comparators, PWM's, Capture and compare, etc. Put the chip to sleep when it is does not need to be active. Please let us know what you find. Bob

Read the datasheet and the Power Managed Tips document, both of which you can download directly from Microchip. There may also be some useful information in the midrange reference manual.
