Gosh, we were doing this 10 years ago. Fortunately, the Virtex 5 does away with the CPLD. Next, you'll find a patent about an FPGA programming other FPGAs.

Close, but no cigar. The actual story: USPO stopped requiring working models in 1880 (ran out of space to store them??). The notable exception is an application for a patent on perpetual motion machine.
