Russian Woodpecker: antenna complex

I have his RADAR Handbook. A lot of good information on microwave antennas. It helped me reverse engineer some poorly performing C-band dishes, and find a way to make them work. I found the book, used at a flea market for $1 about 20 years ago. I had a disabled friend that sold a lot of books. He would put anything electronics related back, until I could look them over.

Picking up the moon is not that big issue.these days. Radio amateurs with 1-4 long VHF/UHF yagis and 100 to 1000 W transmitting power communicate via the moon reflections on a daily basis.

The Apollo program used two way ranging, with a few second PRN sequence, allowing CSM distance measurement from Earth with a meter accuracy. The planetary probes like Voyagers use the same technique.

Thus, radar pulse aliasing is not a new issue.
