Recycling laptop displays

I just bought a brand new LCD monitor but I'd like to keep using the video card from my laptop. How can I hook up my laptop to the PCI express bus and use it?

Yes, this is a joke. I just thought I'd turn the subject on its head.

What joke? My docking station takes a (half height) PCI-E card. It's _intended_ for a video card.

That's wonderful, but what about the laptops with integrated chipset on the motherboard? That's what I want to use on my desktop. I'm just making fun of the monthly "I want to turn my laptop LCD into a stand alone monitor" topic. I guess I should have said "chip" instead of card... ah... my comic timing needs work.

Huh? Did you *read* what I posted? I'm quite sure my laptop has everything on the motherboard, though I did make sure it didn't have the crap Intel graphics. The same DOCKING station works even for the Intel junk though.

Why did you buy junk?

Evidently you need to get your facts straight too.

There are always people wanting to rip out the LCD display from a laptop and use it as a standalone monitor. This is not easily feasible. The joke was I said I bought a LCD monitor, but want to recycle the PC video chip, usually soldered right on the motherboard, and build my own video card. Clear now? Jeez, I didn't buy a thing here. And calm the f*ck down.
