I've never suggested that Hillary's on-the-spot improvisation was as good response. Her subsequent grimace (not a laugh) suggests that she wasn't happy with it either.

Cursitor Doom and John Larkin seem to forget that Gaddafi was responsible for the Lockerbie disaster, which killed a number of Americans (including one graduate student from the Cambridge academic circles in which we moved at the time).

A grimace isn't a laugh. There was absolutely nothing joyous in Clinton's response - and only people with a very poor grasp of social responses could imagine that they could see anything of the sort.

This seems unlikely. Hillary Clinton was articulate, George W Bush rather less so.
