I have come to understand that Jim is the defacto owner of this newsgroup and it's binary, coupled at the hip, newsgroup.

There are enough people who join him in his egocentric personal spam, that it should be clear even to you.

This is, essentially HIS blog. Get used to it or, as he loves to do, filter him out of your view.

What a bunch of guys. Write something interesting or amusing about engineering, then, or even about the weather where you are. Bonus points for effort.

For that matter, so far this year Philadelphia has been a little on the warm side.

Meanwhile, I just found a graph from the RSS satellite.

It shows, except for the 1998 spike (probably from the El Nino that was about twice as intense as any measured before), fairly steady warming. We are just starting to pull out of a mere 8 year low.

If this satellite's results (which excludes polar areas) can be taken as the truth and the whole story, I think that a fair interpretation is to see what happened from the early 1983 high to the January 2007 high, or from the late 1984 low to the January 2008 low. The former has warming by .3 degree C over almost 24 years, while the latter has warming by .42 degree C over a little over 23 years.

It'll never happen. Everyone knows how hard & heavy lawyer's hearts are. After all they are pure 'Neutonium' (Tiny, but extremely heavy!). The volcano would have to build up enough pressure to put the lawyers into orbit. By the time they are clear enough to write, they'll be in LEO. :(
