You appear to be ignoring repeated descriptions of what regression testing is. Is this because you disagree with the definition given?Regression testing tests functionality that previously worked as desired no longer working the same way as an unintended consequence changes in other parts of a design. Regression testing involvesre-running all previously run tests as a batch and checking whether previously fixed faults have re-emerged. It is common in softwaredevelopment and, it appears, in Analog IC design.I am having a hard time figuring out why calling it 'regression' makes you ill. You are testing for regression (a feature that stopsworking after a certain event), so what's the problem with calling it regression testing? -- Guy Macon

IOn this one I did the bus control and the logic because they didn't have a HW engineer at that time.

Analog Devices... why am I not surprised? They do seem to have some of the weirdest digital interfaces out there.

Kill until power-cycled? Or kill permanently?

I imagine they must be diagnostic control bits, although if they kill the chip permanently there must be some fuses inside that they can access that end up getting blown in ways they shouldn't.

If you find the right guy at ADI they might give you a hint as to what the bits do... I was able to get the diagnostic control bits out of them for a PLL this way.
