Those, and CadSoft. Eagle is still blindingly fast. No stupid splash screen; it's just "there". Let's hope they keep it up in v.5.
I really don't have the faintest idea why something as primitive as a word processor or a spreadsheet has to be that slow.

Yes, you are right. I am also using Eagle and it is (almost) as rock solid as DOS-OrCad. Pity that they do not understand the importance of hierarchical sheet structures. That's why I didn't bother to check out the V5 beta, won't buy the upgrade and maybe defect to another some day. Maybe gEDA but not before the Windows install can be done by people without a Ph.D. in computer science.
It usually boils down to organization and priorities. The first is not an easy task with shareware projects of this magnitude.
