Anti Spam at the Enterprise Level

An article so good that the content is duplicated three times in that blog?

postfix + greylisting + RBLs = cheap and efficient anti-spam measures, from home machines up to corporate-level.

Yep. I'm finding the combination of NewsProxy + Agent's built-in filters to be virtually 100% effective. Until some ignoramus comes along and posts a response that is nothing more than a quote of the spam with his SIG line under it.

I wish I could convince the Agent software team to include NewsProxy-like filtering within Agent, but they don't seem to understand the methodology or need.

I use scoring in Xnews - I think followups inherit the scores also, so replies are killfiled.

I thought Agent could use regex.. or did I hear wrong?

I'm using ForteInc as a newsfeed and I find they killfile a lot of spam for me before it gets to their servers. I once pondered the possibility of running my own Linux-based newsproxy that could auto-get/killfile according to a whitelist/blacklist of headers, but never got around to it. If you hear of anyone that's got a good guide, I may still progress once I've rebuilt my server.

Yep, But it's presently limited to Author, Subject and Newsgroup fields. I understand the Message-ID field will be added in v5. But no scoring capability to allow white-listing :-(

I use APN (ForteInc) also, but I run NewsProxy as a front-end, mostly with scoring-and-flag filters, so I can block the googlegroups/gmail village idiot crowd, but yet maintain a white-list.

"suck" is is a program that can feed a local news proxy via an ordinary remote nntp user account it has some killfiling capabilities.

inn is a good news server. (except you may have to recompile to turn off the annoying quote limit on long messages) sn is not so good - it does not handle cross-posts neatly. I also tried leafnode, but found it to be annoying.
