You're about as dumb as the get, AlwaysWrong. Of course not all modems were QAM (56K were PCM). At least some 9600bps modems certainly were. We had a metric boatload of 'em.

it. "

Nice to see some people got their priorities straight.

I make that mistake sometimes. Tempus fugit. Twenty yearsa go was 1995, App le was doing pretty good. Really, sometimes I say something like "Yeah, ten years ago" not realizing right away that I meant thirty. However, you are probably right when it comes to the phones. They might not care if they eve r sell another computer in their life. But twenty years ago, they were maki ng money on computers.

Out of that list, as far as I can tell only 2 of them were nobodies 20 years ago. Apple certainly wasn't a nobody (there was even a short inside joke about how well their stock performed in the 1980s in the 1994 movie Forrest Gump), but by 1995 they had lost their way and flailed around for a few years while they bought the corpse of NeXT and brought Steve Jobs back to reorganize things.

I was in my freshman year of college in 1997, and I'll agree that as far as processing power is concerned we've come a long way in a short amount of time. I went to an "art" school and there were a lot of film/TV production students who used the computer lab - at that time it was filled with those early 1990s Mac Quadras and Performas that came in beige cases that looked like pizza boxes. They were dog slow at doing even standard definition TV video editing; you'd have to script the edits and effects you wanted and set the thing up to render overnight, cross your fingers and hope one of the several architectural/implemention flaws of that generation of Motorola processor and Mac OS marriage didn't cause Final Cut to crash halfway through.

A few years later they had PowerPC G4s and the situation was much better. Now you can probably do the same type of basic editing on an ARM tablet.

..which proves Obama Care changed nothing on the low end. Proves the lie "affordable care". To top all of this off, there is this illegal tax whereby if you do NOT rathole money towards medical insurance, the government steals from your Social Insecurity (a worse rathole for your money). So real in-pocket income is less than the advertised Social Insecurity no matter what you do.

Same "do i eat this week, or do i get my meds" dilemma as before.

Oh, but doing that would be SANE and humanitarian, not greedy.

You really don't get it.

The COPS decide who THEY call. There is NO "Call this tow company".

They and the tow companies got together and cities drafted laws with mandates in them.

If you were any more clueless, I'd think you were Bloggs.

The post I wrote states it just fine. IFR I were able to declare which tow company they call, THEN there would be competition for that call. SINCE they do not allow that decision, WE ARE ALL cowed into paying their mandated horseshit menagerie.

Do you want the retard whopp upside the head or the buried neck deep next to an ant hill out in the stinking desert response?

You really are stupid... and illiterate, apparently as well.

Wake the f*ck up, you retarded twit. LEARN to READ while you are at it.

Absolute bullshit.

Unless otherwise contracted.

Well, you *are* AlwaysWrong.

You can everywhere I've lived, or traveled. It's sometimes difficult to know who to call, so most just let the cops go to the next name in their rotation. However, it *is* your call who you contract with.

AlwaysWrong.

Of course. It's just another socialist takeover; nothing to do with "care", "health", or "affordable".

Has been for some time (withholding).

The difference between now and 20 years ago is that about half the meds prescribed are now available for $4.00 per month - with or without insurance. There is no need to get ripped off by the (on every) corner drug store.

SO you're going to demand that others work for nothing? Forced charity? Sounds like slavery to me. I'm sure you give all of your time away so believe you have the right to demand the same from others. Right?

Proves the lie "affordable care".

That's right, I have a family policy that is $7700 a year, The equivalent Obamacare policy is $13,800. Or I should say that was the price last year. I haven't checked this year. Just to pissed off about the whole thing. Mikek

He is actually right about this, at least in Maryland. The state has regulations on how much they can charge when they tow your car by order of a cop, but it is *really* high. I can have my car towed for a reasonable fee, I think about $4 a mile (give or take, it's been a long time since I've needed a tow). The state allows an ordered tow to cost as much as $400 and that was some years ago, maybe 10 or 15. The tow company doesn't have to justify a thing, they hold your car and if you don't pay they can sell it.

Oh, and you don't have to be charged with anything to have your car towed by order of a cop. If it breaks along the road, you had better get your tow truck there before the cop gets his tow truck there. That was the situation where I had the conversation with the cop. He saw I would be underway shortly so he didn't call the tow truck.

Your point is completely wrong. Obamacare is about making insurance available for those under the age of Medicare. My friend is in the Medicare age group.
