I'm doing that with an IOGear USB KVM, two desktops, a laptop and a dangling cable for a "visitor".

I am considering going the dual-head video... schematic on one monitor, Probe simulation results on the other.

Mark/qrk had such an arrangement running several years ago.

Same color used by some Linux Distros. Blue is no longer a reliable indicator of BillyWare. Also, do you not know how to read headers?

Right... sure... You have a "dozen telnet sessions open to AIX systems and another dozen or so to Windows sessions". You lying fucktard!

Do you really think that VNC class of software is a big secret? Every networked computer at Microdyne had VNC installed, and the IT people got their ass chewed out for rebooting the computers used for ISP programming on the production floor. I told them that I would use Regedit to remove their crap if they did it again, while my computer was in use, and if they deleted the ISP programming software again, that I was going to have them fired.

I still have a 100 user license for a Novell network, from the days I sold and installed networking services.

I currently have a picture of the galactic center, taken with the Spitzer Space Telescope, as my desktop wallpaper.

I got it here:

I have dozens. I *like* dual screens (though apparently SuSE 10.0 has decided I don't) at as high a resolution as I can get. I just got a

21" 1600x1200 LCD monitor for my second display at work. Nice! THe larger the desktop the better. ...though it appears that SuSE 10.0 doesn't like my dual screen at home (I'm about to go back to 9.0).

My "open" tabs get collected in the tray. I don't really have a lot of need for folders_of_icons. I may have fifty icons on my desktop, but they're small and spread around in groups. A folder of icons wouldn't make much sense, since I can do a START->PROGRAMS->... (or the equivalent in Linux) for things that aren't often used.

Sure, but I'm not sure why.

I like them on the right and bottom. One normally edits (eyes are drawn to) the upper left so I put all the important icons across the bottom and right. My connectivity icons (dialer, Citrix, Hummingbird, etc.) are on the upper middle since once they're activated (usually when I bring the system up) I rarely need to bother with them again.

Somewhere along the line the tray started picking up "folders" of instances. I'm not sure when that happened though.

Get an LCD display! The *perfect* geometry is amazing for any kind of graphics work like PCBs, schematics, or timing diagrams.

Try VNC. Last time I tried it didn't like Dual-head PeeCees, but I'm told it does now.

Again, look at VNC. It'll do this with the mouse.

Trust me, you'll never go back to a single display! I've had dual-head on my laptop at work for five years. I just got a 21" LCD monitor and, WOW! I'm now pissed because I can't get it to work at home with SuSE

10.0 (was a piece of cake on 9.0).

I had it working under NT4 at least six years ago. ...thsn I went to Win2K and a laptop. Win2K is a little retarded here; the one place XP works better.

Nice quoting DimBulb! Yes, a coupe of dozen windows open at a time, many(most) telnet sessions (Hummingbird) into AIX systems. They're kinda what we use. Sorry, I only have six open windows here on a Sunday night. ...none for work. Dingleberry!

If the windows are already open I don't even need two clicks to get to them. I can also snuggle them up next to each other (or put them on opposing screens) to cun-n-paste between them. I can also use one window as a reference while working on another. Don't be so limited by Windows!

Been there, but it's typing that's the problem for me. As little of that as I can get away with is where it's at. A little mouse movement (my left wrist is the worst) is not an issue. I tried a track-ball because someone suggested it as "ergonomic". Bullshit!

Cool! My mother (93 this summer) doesn't want one because she's afraid that she won't get enough exercise. She has nice walker but doesn't want to go further unless she absolutely must. Last year we were out to see her and bought her a lift-chair since she was having trouble getting out of her rocker.

BTW, what's a set of batteries cost for one of these things?

Desktop icons require two clicks to open, and I prefer a full screen, due to poor vision.

That is why I create as many templates as I can, to minimize typing. I also take a look at pages created with certain templates and make a copy, then rename and edit the copy if it saves typing.

The Jet1 uses a pair of 22NF 12 VDC 50 AH batteries. The online prices range from $65 each, to $170, plus shipping. As far as exercise, I walk as much as I can, but there are places I just can't go to, because there is no place to sit and rest, when needed. I was given a season pass to Silver Springs a couple weeks ago. I went to the Wayne Newton concert Feb. 11th. I made it to the stage area, but I was there from 9:00 AM till they closed at 5:00 PM, and had trouble walking the mile back to my truck. I took my neighbor, because she can't get her power chair into her car, and she did a lot better than I did.

Hi Jim, I have that now, a 19" LCD as my left/main monitor, and a 20" CRT (HP) as my second monitor. Great for having all my 'normal' stuff, like email, CRM, etc. on the main, and still be able to do design/troubleshooting on the secondary. Comes in very handy!
