Protection of IGBT

Nov 26, 2005 4 Replies

There is a problem to protection of IGBT switch, because a load is massive inductive one. The IGBT is 23n60 and the load is high pressure mercury lamp (balast=1/3Henry). Whenever the switching circuit is on, the IGBT break down at once. How can I protect the IGBT?

What is your switching frequency?

Use a diode around your inductive load to clamp the voltage.
