project advice - video -> ADC -> radio -> PC

Hi, Does anyone have good advice on what hardware to use for a little hobby project where i will try to capture video from an anologue cam and transmit it via a digital radio transmitter (fixed 10 $ part). Specifically i am thinking about which video digitizer IC to use. Does anyone know of a good one? I am a novice, so i'd prefer a simply chip and there is no need for fast capture. I was planning to control it using i PIC MCU. Does it sound feasible? Best regards Soren

I'm not aware of any single chips, and if there were, they are going to be BGA, or similar, meaning you'd need to get a PCB made. Why do you want to do this? There may be easier ways. And is buying an off-the-shelf solution not something you'd want to do?

Thanks, It was just for something to do with my PIC, thinking of a cheap alarm/surveillance system - but i think you are right that there is not a chip for it.

Thanks Soren

One interesting app might be an IR 'camera'.

Take several IR detectors, a lens, and a R/C model servo or two to scan them. This would give you a (slow) thermal image.

I do not know of any one chip solutions. Though TDA7134 does much of what you want. you would still have to add a radio chip(set). You could use the PIC to initialize them and receive remote control.
