Here is an idea for next generation threadripper chips:
Make the cores/chips that make up the theadripper CPU pluggeable.
So then consumers can start with an 8-core threadripper version to safe costs and try it out.
The CPU itself would basically be a CPU circuit board which has "chiplet" sockets so users can upgrade the CPU later when they need/want more cores.
This would "solve the problem" of people wanting a cheap computer first to try it out and if they like it they might be able to buy more processing power and upgrade their PC.
It could have far reaching consequences for the market !
I predict mass-popularity of this idea.
Oh yes one more thing.
The I/O Memory Controller could also be pluggeable so later it can be replaced by maybe a faster memory controller if that makes sense.
Maybe even a new circuit CPU board could be designed to re-use these pluggeable chiplets, not sure if that last thing makes sense, but it could make sense if new motherboards have different socket pins.
This way a translation from the old chiplet to the new motherboard could be done without throwing away the cpu chiplet.
