Parts per million / LSB

Hello,

I was reading a note from texas Instruments about Charaterization of ADC. The note mentioned that a 12 bit ADC converter contains 244ppm / LSB. I want to know that how did they come up with this number? The note can be found at the following link

Hi,

I have one more question that in chapter 4, the note disscuss how to design a opamp system using the four different combination of linear equation

Y = mX + B,

The author suggests the linear equation, defines the input and output voltages and then draws the circuit. My questions are

  1. How did he translate the four linear equations into schematic?
  2. The suggested schematics are the only designs or the opamp circuits could be different from the designs given in the note?

Is the other way around. He designed the circuits and check it with equations. But it sounds better to the professor than the schematic came from the equations.

2^12 = 4096 steps.

LSB = 1/4096 = 244 e-6 =

244 ppm

1/4095 = 0.000244200244 = 244 ppm of full scale.

Fencepost error! Not that it matters muich, but the range of a 12-bit converter is 0 to 4095, and

1/4095 =3D> 244.200 parts per million of the range 1/4096 =3D> 244.141 parts per million

Which happens to be 4096 discrete values.
