It isn't the Democrats, but the Justice Department, which is doing the indictment. The Democrats could presumably put pressure on the Justice Department not to prosecute, but that would be endorsing ostentatiously casual treatment of classified documents, which would make them look worse.
Trump is the criminal farce here. The Republicans are reluctant to endorse this - or rather, since the "never Trump" republicans have made themselves scarce - the spineless rump of fellow travellers who now call the themselves the Republican Party. They will ride Trump's popularity with people who are too silly to recognise as the creep he is.
It doesn't seem as if there are enough of them to win an election, but Trump got in 2016 while losing the popular vote.
Next time he's President, he can pardon himself.

Reporting structures has no bearing on the independence of an organization. You can try to make an agrument to the contrary but geee, that is ignoring the founding principles of the democracy.
You can infer that Biden has impose some sort of pressure on the independent organization, but you are relying on the integrity of the executive and judical branch heads to maintain independence. Something Trump and his cronies failed that premise from a middle school civics lesson.
lets just rewrite the laws that govern our democracy while we are at it. It will make our inuendos so much more belivable, even though they are factually incorrect. Innocent till proven guilty - Trumps big mouth and ego helped make the case. I work in the world of classified documents. No one, not even the president can change the classification of a document. Typical Trump, rewriting the rules and duping the American public to think his version is right. I can't wait to see him in orange for 20 years.

Not going to keep Trmp out of jail. That's what happens when you are caught committing a federal crime. He's looking at a LOT of years. After the trial, we will only see him at his funeral.

Trump did go in for that. His choice of EPA administrator was so obviously crooked that he had to be eased out after a few months in office - Trump wasn't any kind of sensible politician
People were clearly exploiting the system, but it's not clear that McKesson were doing more that accepting orders from ostensibly legitimate businesses. Not clear enough to justify prosecution.
Probably true. Addicts don't contribute generously to politicians election expenses, and they do resent it when they can't get the drugs to which they are addicted. The Romans kept the mob happy with bread and circuses. The US regime just keeps the drugs of addiction flowing smoothly.
