If we got better at picking up serious psychopathic lunatics before they da maged other people we could save a few victims from unpleasant and sometime s fatal consequences, but pre-emptive incarceration would probably pick up few people would would never have actually offended.

The risk that Jim Thompson and Cursitor Doom might end up in protective cus tody isn't something that would worry me. I'm fairly sure that I haven't go t any psychopathic tendencies, but if I had I'd prefer to be locked away ra ther than running the risk killing an acquaintance.
