OT A modest proposal

I just love this. A warning, it's 1/2 satirical, and to Trump voters, don't let the first bit piss you off. He's a liberal coastal elitist. You don't have to read his book review... it was a little blah.

Attempting to create an alternative media is not gonna change much. Dems will neither participate nor take any notice of it.

If 20 million or so adult illegals ( 11 million is bunkum) in the US are given full welfare & the vote - the Dems *cannot* lose the next election. However, destroying the economy might halt that situation in a few years.

Or a military coup....

Or another pandemic. Having the Republicans in charge during the Covid-19 e pidemic left the US economy in a serious mess. Australia largely dodged tha t particular bullet.

The Democrats might be able to claim that they could be better. The Republi cans probably couldn't have done worse if they had been trying to kill even more people - since people who were unlikely to vote Republican end up dea d in larger numbers than potential Republican voters, they might have been.

Breitbart would say that. John Larkin is silly enough to take that kind of propaganda seriously.

Sure... I'm sorry I thought it funny... and mostly pointed at the dems... (I hate Democrats too. :^) I do wish we had a party for working people. These parts crack me up... I know it pokes fun at Republicans too, but can' t we laugh at both sides?

**quote** It could appeal to intellectuals. Right now you're doing so badly among thi s demographic that you're going to have trouble staffing the next generatio n of think tanks. That's because you have a lot of anger but no theory. Int ellectuals love theories. Your theory will be something something classism, details to be filled in later. Intellectuals love filling in details, espe cially details about -isms, and you can assure them that they'll be very bu sy

It could appeal to the upper class. I know, I know, aren't those exactly th e people you're going to be fighting against? Yeah but they're all masochis ts. These are the men who have parroted every feminist talking point of the last ten years, the white people who pay money for workshops on dismantlin g whiteness, etc, etc etc. Telling them they suck and should feel bad is th e surest way to their hearts. Your job is to give them newer and better rea sons to self-flagellate than the Democrats can.

The right-wing press tends to make fun of liberals, using their actual acts and statements. The left-wing press spews insults and hatred at conservatives, and misquotes or just makes things up. That's fundamental to their personalities, as noted in my link.

That's real. Check it out.

That what right-winger think, which doesn't actually make it true,

That the kind of nonsense that you do get from Breitbart. It's also the kind of nonsense that gullible twits like John Larkin are prepared to believe.

Ask any other gullible twit.

No, that's gratuitous sniping, entirely spin with no other motion. What is the evidence of 'make fun' ? Is it a mirror image of 'spews insults'?

John Larkin hasn't checked any of his preposterous opinions, he has just skimmed the internet for lies and distortions that fit them.

Insults and intolerance are both cheap and easy.

Like some kind of National American Socialist Worker's Party?

Joe Biden is more-or-less a conservative. Huge bailouts to large corporations, strikes on Syria, business-as-usual.

He's just not a fascist, at least not yet. He's not in favor of mass executions of traitors and sending millions of immigrants and gays to death camps.

so 70 million Americans don't like him.

Right, and Trump easied his way to the presidency by keeping the message on point. He knew how to insult people for effect in a way John McCain or Mitt Romney never could and at least for a while Americans loved him for it.

To the great dismay of some of the more thoughtful libertarians and socialists as well, the realization came that the majority of Americans who did so didn't vote for Rand Paul or Bernie Sanders due to being thoughtful libertarians or socialists, but primarily because they were the person saying the most outrageous things who was listed on the ballot.

Did you see the post? It starts with an image sure to offend any R's and continues ~ non-stop for the first few sentences*. But yeah, the R's look (ed) closer to that than the D's. I think Scott's post is a message to his side, the Dems. Think about the working man, like you use to pre-Clinton, or someone else will. (again)

LBJ said it pretty well:

"I'll tell you what's at the bottom of it," he said. "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

Except that he wasn't correct about it being limited to white people or conservatives.

Long-time New Englanders tend to be sort of a type, though, we don't tend to easily empty our pockets for anyone, and certainly not just for flattery. No one likes a kiss-up.

I see a lot of people treat cashiers and food servers pretty bad, it's pretty gross behavior to my mind but this is what some people have in life, they don't have something like electronics design or some avocation that gives them pride or a sense of real self-confidence. they may be working better paid jobs but not ones that give them a sense of purpose.

So you've got people well into their 30s and 40s even going to the club (well, in normal times) once a week to show off spend big and treat the staff like crap because this is their one opportunity a week to shine and be a big-shot.

And the best I can do at the time if I find myself in a place like that with staff who's young and doesn't know the score is to tell them not to let pranksters like that throw them, they've always been there and may always be, nothin' changed.

I'm so glad you and Mr. Larkin seem to have made up - I think this is going to be the start of a beautiful relationship for the two of you. You can keep your warm beer but please just promise me you'll always be there for him.
