Without the stool, the nose would have been damaged.
But I can't see why there'd be any danger to speak of.

All variants of Harrier uncontrollably drop during the last few meters of flight. A landing without nose gear is terminal for the airframe. Hence the STOL Stool.

Plot seemed shaken up. I was in a startup run by Navy pilots - doing my AI SW thing, and they decided it would be fun to rappel down a 200 foot cliff in a lightning storm. I could see the marks left by previous lightning strikes on the mountain. They seemed to enjoy it, but I was thoroughly afraid, though I would do it again.
It's VTOL, who cares ?

Unbelievable...
But nose landings can get expensive.
I was impressed by how perfectly he plopped it down, onto that tiny stool, on a carrier deck, out there in the wind and all.

But that's what they do. As he indicated, the hard part was knowing that he *had* to do it.
A good bit of piloting, for sure, but I think the danger to the pilot is being overstated.
Which is not to say the task wouldn't be stressful. I've seen people become visible very agitated when 'flying' desk-top flight simulators.
