Then try and find some other way of shipping power across a significant gap. If you need a certain amount of power at one particular place, you look at all the ways of getting it to that place. Efficiency only starts mattering when you have a choice between different more or less feasible approaches.

Small portable nuclear power plants do exist. Also on sea in the form of ships, Russia has one IIRC.
