These things are pretty inexpensive. Anyone have experiance with them?

I use Google to check my spelling. It's a bit of a bummer because I'm probably getting Americanised via the backdoor. Unfortunately it does nothing for my grammar.
Good job you have a bit of software to check yours. If they are cheap buy some and have a play. There might be other factors that enter into the equation but....

I use their (really cheap) MCP41010 a lot - 8 bit digital pot makes nice 8 bit DAC.

I've been using the MCP4922, and it seem like a good low-cost DAC. No complaints here.
