I want to use the mch12140 to measure the phase between two signals but in neither the ON nor the Motorola datasheet is an example circuit given. Could someone give me some pointers on hooking this chip up? Thanks Matthew

This phase detector gives output Up and Down pulses, depending on which phase leads, and the rate proportional to the phase.
There are plenty of app notes in the On Semi MECL books (this is designed for MECL operation) on using phase detectors as part of a PLL. Basically, you need a balanced (differential) integrator on the output (the Up and Down outputs), and the output of the integrator will have a DC voltage proportional to the phase between the two input signals.
Cheers
