What sort of resolution would you want for audio? The speed of sound is 1 ft per ms so resolutions much below a ms are going to be hard to detect with a human ear. (unless you are comparing left vs right)
Besides, you can get sub sample rate delays in the digital world. You don't have to run the ADC and DAC off the same clock. Suppose you start with a 10 x clock. You can get a 10 x resolution by staggering the clocks.
