I have a mobile DVR that is attached to my motocross bike, and the bolts that hold the pcb inside the enclosure are coming loose because of nasty vibrations. The screws are very small 2mm, can i use loctite on them and will i be able to remove later if need be? thanks!

Locktite is a beaut. Once set it is NOT for disassemble in "plastic" enviroment. Have you considered silicone putty instead. A blob will glue the parts and have some effect during vibrations. And can be put apart if needed.

If you are screwing a metal screw into a thread tapped into metal, loctite should stop it coming loose, and you should still be able to unsrew the screws at some later date. You will have to apply some force, but you won't distort the screw head.

But the most common are: 242, it's blue and mild stength. 271 is red and quite strong, the green one (can't recall the #) takes a LOT of effort to release it, you will probably destroy 2mm screws first.

Light heat (hold a soldering iron against the nut) will assist in releasing it.

Never ever ever apply Loctite to a thermoplastic like PVC or Delrin.
The stuff like Vibratight or RTV is ok.
The "stop nuts" and the like used on aircraft work ok.
Are these standard threaded 2mm screws or some special thread for plastics and what are they threaded into? Standard metric threads are much too fine for use on soft materials. If that is what has been done, the threads are likely stripping and the screw comming out. It they aren't turning and backing out.
If it is brass inserts in plastic, a bit of RTV may help but there is still some risk that the threads are stripping out.
Thanks guys, it's an aluminum 2mm screw that goes into a threaded alum casing. Sounds like loctite 222 might be the ticket.
