LM339D

Needing to replace this IC, its used in the VU meter circuit I posted here a while back....its really hot to the touch after power is applied for 30 secs and cant drive the LED's properly.

Looked on Fleabay, but sellers are pretty picky and I don't need dozens of them.

I used AI to suggest subs, it said LM239D is an industrial grade version and would perform better. There's also a mil spec version but I don't need to go that far.

I have an offer sent on Ebay for (40) LM239D but in case it falls thru, was wondering if there are any other possibilities? I really only need one, but if pricing is good will stock up....

If it's getting hot, might be an error in the circuit design. Can you post a circuit somewhere ?. LM339 are usully pretty bulletproof.

Any old 339 with the same package and size should do, not critical, so why buy > 1 ?.

Why not go to a broad-line distributor like Mouser, Newark, Element-19 or the like. They may not be as cheap as E-bay, but there's a much better chance that what they sell you will be what you ordered and will work as it was designed to.

And the LM339 is a very cheap chip.

We have hundreds of 339s in stock, dips and SO14s. Where are you?

For LM339D, there are 36 listings for sale in the USA on eBay:

When purchasing single items or very small quantities, the vendors usually charge more to cover their shipping and handling costs. It's not unusual to find a single chip at for $10 (including shipping) or

10 chips for the same amount. They might sell the chips for $1 and charge you $9 for shipping and handling.

Sort the eBay listings by price plus shipping and you'll see how it works.

I sent you an email but it may have not worked. Outlook is such garbage.

Nope, nothing.

I told the seller I bid on for (40) units I really dont need (40), hes not accepted my offer so far.

But if you wanna make contact with me on Ebay this is my spot:

U can maybe message me there and if he backs out I will see what u got....

Why not buy them from Digikey like the rest of us?

“DR” just means “SO14 package, tape and reel”.
