I have(I found)an unknown red high brightness LED in a package I can't identify. it appears to have been part of some trailer taillight or other vehicle light,it was in pieces when I found it.
It's a clear plastic package, about 7 mm square with a clear dome on top,and it has 3 leads on each side like a DIP,except 2 of the 3 leads merge together in a large pad, that flares out like a flat-pack lead, presumably for heat dissipation. I put 50ma thru it with no problem,I suspect it will take more.I wish I had a curve tracer. It has an aluminized "mirror" surrounding the LED die, under the clear dome.
Is there a site or document that depicts the various LED packages on the market with some sort of identification like a JEDEC package number?
I'm going to use it for a hi-bright flashing bike taillight. But I'd like to know more about it(specs) and maybe find a source for more.
