Laptop PS diodes 12 to 10V

My IBM T21 laptop computer requires around 10.8 volts at 4A. Can I safely use a 12V SLA battery and two PX 6007 diodes (6A) in series to reduce the voltage accordingly, instead of a dedicated power supply or voltage regulator IC?

Will the changing load, as the HDD kicks in, etc., cause unacceptable voltage variations.

Thank you for any advice

It's an IBM.

Therfore you can connect the battery directly. If you connect the baterry the wrong way around then it wont work but if, having connected the battery the wrong way round you connect it the right way round it will work.

It's a Laptop..... You're an idiot...... You have been anticipated.....

It's an IBM
