Kim Jung Un gonna die?

he starving masses, or if the population realises what has been going on fo r the past 70 year, hung from the nearest tree

I've seen. They all have their heads so far up his ass you can't find the ir shoulders. The population adore him and his family as a near god. His sister has been significant in politics lately. Whoever assumes power (ass uming he does die or become incapacitated) will do so through political man euvering. The leaders seem to have no threat at all from the military. It 's the other leaders they all worry about.

yranny and shear terror. He has had an uncle publicly executed by a militar y firing squad, and a half-brother assassinated by poisoning with VX. He al so had a nephew executed who had fled to SoKo.

as a "legitimate" replacement

Before we need to worry about any replacements, somebody has to die or beco me incapacitated.

So at the moment it doesn't sound like much to worry about. We will find o ut when we find out.

The guy does present problems for the rest of the world, but I think the on ly country that might be willing to take the risk of eliminating him is Chi na. For everyone else the uncertainty of a North Korea without a leader or with a new, unknown leader is worse than the devil they know.

I think China would have a lot more say in who would replace him... especia lly if it was known by the powers that be (in NK) that China had taken him out. Who in NK might stand up to China on anything significant? I think n o one, not even Kim himself when it comes down to it. Without China, NK co uld be taken out at any time and likely would have been a long time ago, li ke in the 50's.

I think after covid-19, NK would not get as much supports from China. NK a nd Russia were the first countries to shut off borders with China and expel Chinese. Who need enemies when your friends treat you this way.
