It'll make your blood boil, unless your a lefty

The goal of the Right is to keep the bulk of its supporters in perpetual misery, and it played out pretty much that way with the healthcare bill.

Because people who are happy with their lives and not constantly living with their blood boiling about something or other finally have no reason to vote for Conservative candidates of the modern fashion.

Firms with fewer than 20 employees make up 90% of all American employers.

Welcome to the dark side.

The only thing more shameful than the private insurance industry itself is how much wasted time and effort goes into making such a relatively piddly amount of profit (which then goes 90% into the pockets of the tiniest fraction of its employees, so not that piddly to them, of course.)

As a whole its gross to net earnings ratio is AFAIK the worst of any industry ever. Like 400 billion/yr to make 1/100th that in profit. Even if they were ten times as profitable as they are now it would hardly make the slightest impact on GDP.

The conservative mentality: "Every other advanced industrial nation in the world accomplishes this cheaper and more efficiently than we do, so their method must be wrong."

Please refrain from misrepresenting my views on things you don't understand.

American exceptionalism is that unique theory of government that ordinary people are able (and by right, should be allowed) to rule themselves.

This contrasts with Bill Sloman's theory that people are peons that have to be ruled by the likes of him, in order that he might live to a higher standard off the work of others.

You're right that I despise socialism, a destructive philosophy that has killed at least a hundred million people in the last century. I've lived among its victims, and have been to many of its graveyards and memorials.

It works well for Bill Sloman, but to me, the belief that you have a fundamental right to someone else's labor and property is a fundamental evil.

Christianity certainly has as large a body count to its name. Were those killers Christians, or weren't they? They read the Bible, probably. Said they were.

Or did religious wars on behalf of Christendom kill only "bad" people? Or do only deaths in the last 100 years count?

Europe is a collection of states, each about the size of a U.S. state. They don't have single-payer, they each have their own individual system.

It might work on that geographic scale, in a homogeneous like-minded population that doesn't mind being ruled by their "betters." You live in a good state to try--go for it. But with your own money, please.

There's nothing stopping you. Let us know how it works.

The world was a brutal place 2000 years ago. Jesus was a peaceful progressive (as Muhammad certainly wasn't). Christianity was the intellectual and moral foundation of modern science and democracy, and led humanity out of its classic brutality.

No it doesn't. But if it did, you'd be all for it?

Socialism is fairly new. How about we add up the number of people loving your neighbor has killed, versus the number that loving your neighbor's stuff has killed since socialism's birth (Communist Manifesto, 1848)?

You have a remarkably perverse, uneducated, and upside-down worldview.

The entire goal of the left is to upset and outrage otherwise happy people with continual grievances, in order to get their vote. Obama STUDIED and TAUGHT that at the university level. That's what community organizing *is*. Shall I quote Alinsky for you, about needing to rub the resentments of the people raw, in order to spur them to action?

We just had a *president* who was a community organizer, whose organization was called "Organizing For America," (now "Organizing For Action"). Still not getting it?

The Democrat party is nothing but an alliance of grievance groups for Pete's sake, all seeking reparations from the rest of society!

The goal of the right is to be left alone to live their lives in peace.

The goal of the left is to take other people's stuff and tell them how to live.

Cheers, James Arthur

I'm just sayin' man, at the end of the day I'm not the one constantly making off-topic posts about things I'm outraged about. Outraged is is outraged does.

Who are these otherwise happy people that the left is throwing into such an unnatural conniption fit? Gays, who the right wants to strip rights from? Women, same deal? The ancestors of slaves who couldn't even use the same public facilities as everyone else until after the invention of supersonic aircraft?

Seems you're just outraged that everyone doesn't pretend to be perfectly fine to suit you.

Not anywhere *close* to the Church of Socialism.

Do you really care more about the past than the present and the future? Figures.

With what cash, dude? The majority of Americans don't even have 1k combined in their checking and savings account. They're already drowning in debt - how much do you think even a combined hour with a doctor and a followup and a few simple tests costs?

I've never once heard anyone who didn't actually live as an "actually poor" person give any kind of financial advice that made a lick of sense for someone actually in that situation, never.

The term we have for what that plays out as is "Fuck You, Got Mine." i.e. get the benefits that living in a society offers, without having to care about the fate of anyone who doesn't have it as good.

That's called "sociopathy", not "peace."

Reply to

But you keep saying that it's all the poor in flyover country (they all are, right?) who voted for trump that are the problem. Which is it?

You are an idiot. It's not sociopathic to want to take care of your family. Others are more than welcome to do the same.
