You appear to think this is a problem only of *brown people over there*.
I saw 2 TV shows recently that reminded me otherwise.
"Law & Order" usually draws story lines from the news. I don't remember an actual story that paralleled this one closely by they had an episode where a Christian preacher had pre-adolescents in a summer camp teaching the kids to deal with blasphemers. "THIS IS WAR." One guy who had been through the program murdered his Mom for screwing a Muslim.
A segment on ABC's[1] Nightline had some Bible thumpers leading tours into a science museum and once there pooh-poohing anything scientific, saying *Look in your Bible for science*; the Earth is only 6000 years old: Before Adam and Eve sinned, there was no death, so T Rex (who was concurrent with the first humans) ate veggies.

he Bible does *not* say or even imply that the earth is "only" 6000 years old. Seems that some people do not know how to read. Read the first 5 sentences of Genesis. #2 states there was darkness..then #4 states seperation from darkness and light. Well.....these bible types like to nit pick, so...if #2 is the "literal truth", then there had to be light for ther to be darkness. But that was *before* the seperation later mentioned. Perhaps a slight discrepancy? Then we go to #14 that talks about lights in the heavens (again??) seperating day from night, as if the first seperation either did not happenor was (gasp!) inadequate. This business of light/dark, day/night is repeated a few more times...
And, "naturally" the creation is spoken of happening in a certain amount of "days". Genesis starts *before* any "day" is mentioned, so creation even for the purists could have taken anywhere from an attosecond to
10^((10^(10^10))) years. And that alone totally ruins their so-called 6000 years. And, BTW, how long was each of those first "days", and were they of the seme lenght of time?
