You didn't look it up did you? Your mistake is in thinking that "phase" is a universal constant. If the reference changes, the phase changes. If the voltage between each leg and the neutral is 120 volts and the voltage between the two legs is 240 volts, then how could the hot legs be anything but 180 degrees out of phase?

They freaked out here in Florida when they wanted to build a new transmission line across the state from a nuclear power plant. It was to built to operate at twice the voltage of the existing line, to lower losses and to replace fifty year old lines in some sections. A liberal 'scientist' was quoted in the local paper that it would 'Quadruple the deadly 60Hz electromagnetic radiation, for the same power transmitted'.

It is a 325km cable transporting 770MW at 320kV DC.
