I am sure there are studies about long term exposure to different colors of light.

Does TWMBO know what her color really is ?

Light is an effective treatment for SAD: Bright white fluorescent light has been shown to reverse the winter depress ive symptoms of SAD. Early studies used expensive "full-spectrum" bulbs, bu t these are not especially advantageous. Bulbs with color temperatures betw een 3000 and 6500 degrees Kelvin all have been shown to be effective. The l ower color temperatures produce "softer" white light with less visual glare , while the higher color temperatures produce a "colder" skylight hue. The lamps are encased in a box with a diffusing lens, which also filters out ul traviolet radiation. The box sits on a tabletop, preferably on a stand that raises it to eye level and above. Such an arrangement further reduces glar e sensations at high intensity, and preferentially illuminates the lower ha lf of the retina, which is rich in photoreceptors that are thought to media te the antidepressant response. Studies show between 50% and 80% of users s howing essentially complete remission of symptoms, although the treatment n eeds to continue throughout the difficult season in order to maintain this benefit.

Or just buy/make one of these:

"Improves mood "

After blowing $200 on a bunch of white LEDs in a plastic box, my mood would definitely need improving.

I have had the RGB LED strips in the window pane shining blue light inwards now for several weeks during daytime (in the evening it is orange yellow). I work harder during the day, but not sure it is related to the LEDs.

Actually quite nice, with the thin semi transparent curtains closed in the evening the orange lights up the curtains, and you get a lighted wall. From the outside it looks cool too.

If it's "fifty shades of grey" you're in luck. Heck, 2 shades would be fantastic ;-)
