The problem with Foxit is that it always blurs the edges of the letters and you can't switch it off. Seems like a modern thing but I can't focus properly on such text. I really don't understand that. We have crystal sharp TFT screens so text is not blurred and now they start to blur text in software????? Should we send our old CRT screens to India???
Anyway, did you try Acrobat reader 9? It is way better than the previous versions.
That ASCII keyboard from '74 sure is a nifty design! Most of the stuff I'm working on isn't more complex but has a tcp/ip stack and a webserver none the less. OTOH that would make the keyboard readable from your iPhone :-)
Theres a local library that has an excellent stock of sams photofacts. I think they might have Modern electronics in their archives as well. I will give them a call and see.

There's another free reader at
WRT text, the options setting allows you to disable text smoothing and also to adjust the gamma for text rendering. The default (1.0 gamma and smoothing turned on) works okay for me but it does give one a choice.
I went through a couple boxes of old magazines I have from 1971 to 1974. All I have are Mechanix Illustrated, Popular Science and Playboy. Now back to my magazines ;-) Mike
