Please suggest circuitry and power MOSFETs to do the following:
Control voltage > +100mV, turn on P-channel device to +24V (1 Amp *)
Control voltage < -100mV, turn on N-channel device to -24V (1 Amp *)
-100mV

Jim grills _people_? I knew he's got a rep as a conservative, but this is way beyond "conservative"!

I have +24V and -24V supplies and a single control signal to switch output between those two levels or OFF.
If you can provide your own transportation I can provide the food and drink.
I have a smoker sufficiently large to smoke a liberal, whole, without folding ;-)

I have a 4-burner grill, plus a smoker big enough to handle a human, whole ;-)

Hey Jim, Questions, Is there one or two power inputs, one for positive and one for negative? Are there one or two power outputs or a single node that could be both +/-. Do the single or double power inputs have to withstand full reverse voltage to the other rails? Please threw in some incentives for the winning design, maybe a trip to Phoenix and a night at your home for food and drink. Winner may bring a Hibachi if your outdoor grill is too small for four people.
Cheers Harry

Jim,
I'm not worried until you say you're having a walk-in microwave oven installed.

Why? Then we could cook both Dr. Slick and lemonjuice real quick like.

What should be happenning between 100mv and -100mv?
Charles
Can anyone tell us how to check the model to find out?
What manufacturers' models are known to do this?

Clamping Vgs to 12v max would be a nice touch.........

Crap. I saw that before anyone replied and blew right on by later. Thanks.

See the thread "TL081/Tl084 Model that actively models Power Supply Cuurent ?", in s.e.d.
Mike Englehardt posted some interesting information.
-- Tony Williams.
I posted my circuit in ABSE and included Vgs independent of power rails. I also used two op-amps or comparators but in a different configuration such that I can easily control slewing speeds with no power resistors.
Spank me with your keyboards, Harry
:-)
I'm not subscribed to abse atm Harry, but spank away.

It looks like you risk avalanching the EB junctions of your Q3/Q4 transistors at turn-off- the idea is basically good though.
Hey Fred, Not sure of what you speak. The EB junctions on Q3,4 get back biased 4.3V for 10us then 0VDC continuously. Is this a problem?
Harry
No it's not- was working from the assumption that the 2N2222/2907 Veb,max was 3V- but I see the A versions are now 6V/5V respectively.
