Best PDF viewer?

What happens when you try to save a PDF to your hard disk?

with foxit, every day, no probs, have you a problem with saving to disc?

No, it works just fine in Foxit, thanks. Select Save As from the File menu, pretty simple. Or you can select to save it to your hard drive first via your browser, and then open it.

Why the one program? It's usually more convenient to simply use a PDF printer driver to create a PDF from the program you used to write that document. Plenty of good PDF printer drivers available for free.

Here also, saving PDFs from Foxit without any problems whatsoever.

Perhaps if Anonymous Coward er ah ... snipped-for-privacy@example.com is having difficulties (and not just flinging FUD) he could ask for help?

FWIW, I sprang for the "full" version of Foxit that includes the annotation and markup tools. Not too expensive and very damned handy to be able to save notes with PDF datasheets on the order of "in spite of what it SAYS what it REALLY does here is ..."

Ha! always wanted to be able to put yellow post-it notes into pdfs

Speaking of "bloat"....,

It's pretty interesting that when you save as type PDF from other Adobe Products (like Illustrator-10, or even PhotoShop Elements 4), the file sizes are absolutely HUGE. Tens of megabytes sometimes! And the same exact PDF created with one of those PDF print drivers?:

Works fine for me. That's the only way I save pdf's downloaded by Firefox.

Well, there's another way to save from a web page in Firefox. I use the PDFDownload plugin:

When you click on a PDF, it asks what you want to do with it. It's MUCH faster than waiting for Acrobat to start, display, and then decide to save it.

Works perfectly fine. In fact, a bit quicker since it remembers which directory you last saved the previous PDF.

I could right-click and save the file, but it's just as fast to let the download dialog box pop up, click the default "open with Foxit", see and admire the file first (which, unlike Adobebloat, is instant), and save it from there. If I don't like the part, for example, I may decide to not save the pdf file.

How is that thing any better than the regular Firefox download dialog box?

From Foxit, I've literally saved thousands. No problem.

Yup, I can't right-click from Firefox and save that. It does open, pretty much instantly, using Foxit, and I can save the file from there.

Seems worth mentioning that the free version of Foxit will not save to disk without modifying the PDF.
