Australia is now WORSE than China for individual rights (2023 Update)

People are being arrested for just ATTEMPTING to organize a peaceful protest:

formatting link
In the USA this arrest would be clearly illegal because it is a violation of our Constitution, Amendment One, but Australia DOES NOT have a Constitutional Bill of Rights, as the USA does. Any individual rights are "implied" and can be revoked at any time by the government - and you have NO RECOURSE.

Spreading a fatal disease is not anybody's "right" - anywhere. The news media here refuses to give any coverage to these rabid nut cases..

You know the kind - people just like you.

LOL! You MAKE MY CASE that Australia has now become a TOTALITARIAN STATE - individual RIGHTS are GONE!!

Except that the protests haven't been peaceful, and they violate the lock-down rules. leading to more people getting exposed to infection by Covid-19, and going on to infect others.

Individual rights have never been absolute, and your right to kill other people is non-existent.

There's nothing totalitarian about constraining people from doing that. A state - like the USA - that allows a demented idiot like you to carry a concealed weapon, is dangerously libertarian.

Flyguy is silly enough to think that his untrammelled liberty is the ideal to which every state should aspire. In reality, he's a horrible example of the way stupid people think that they have an absolute right to endanger everybody else because they are too stupid to realise that they frequently get stuff drastically wrong.

On a sunny day (Thu, 30 Sep 2021 18:13:31 -0700 (PDT)) it happened Flyguy snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.com wrote in snipped-for-privacy@googlegroups.com:

As what they did to the natives but same happened to the natives in US And Canada it seems

So I am all for the right of everybody above say 8 years old to carry nuculear weapons.

Or 7 years old??? Anyways, what is it called, Darwin...

You can say that again! Over here in the UK there is a self-generated shortage of fuel at filling stations, with long queues building up. The selfish keep refuelling even though they've got almost full tanks, so adding to the long queues. And, best of all, these possible "Darwin Award" winners are filling up thin plastic drinks bottles with petrol (gasoline) to store at home!

Ah! I was wondering (from news reports) why the problem hadn't been "self-healing" (everyone fills up, then demand falls).

"Plastic"??? Take heart; those hoarders will likely be dying in home fires, RSN!

The US right tends to consider "cancel culture" and bigots getting dropped from Twitter to be about the same crime as a school shooting or police firing on protests.

When will the sheeple wake up and grasp the horror of the literal Holocaust that is happening to thousands of right-wing pundit's bank accounts

Hey Idiot SL0WMAN, google "justifiable homicide" and get back to us with what you find, which is that there ARE such circumstances. Most of the time, however, the bad guy is deterred just knowing that you are armed.

The protestors would have been in breach of the public health orders, and would thus be committing offences.

The woman was arrested for inciting those offences.

Incitement to commit a crime is OK in the USA?

** Got a link for that?

BTW: A *lot of lies* were being told after the event.

I saw the Soravia's green sedan seconds after hearing the shooting, the driver's ( RH side )door was wide open while the 17yo was running around with blood on his white, school shirt yelling: " .. what happened ? what happened ?".

Toula was slumped in the passenger seat, a red circle visible on the left side of her neck. An ambulance arrived in minutes - there was a base 60 yards away. When police detectives arrived, they fully dusted the RH door for prints. It is said the teen tried to brush the hand gun away.

So I believe Zammit came straight the the driver's door and pointed the gun through the window. This makes sense as he needed to stop the car simply pulling away. Then a struggle ensued and the gun was fired 3 times.

The 17yo refused to ever testify in court.

Might be a good reason for that.

Not to change the subject, but the Chinese are doing a massive experiment in natural selection. A guy can't get married, or even get a date, unless he owns an apartment.

What a load of shit. They are not being arrested for protesting. They were arrested for breaching public health orders.

"Oh that is so unfair" No, it is the same in the US. You are allowed to endanger yourself as much as you like, for example getting so drunk you can't tell which way is up, but you are not allowed to endanger others for example by driving a car when you are drunk.

In Australia's case, because we had done so much better stopping covid than the US (ok to be fair we are an island and that makes it easier), this sort of stupid super spreader event, for not a good reason put a lot of people in danger.

It was always intended that the lock-down these pricks were protesting about would be temporary, but "oh no, I don't care if I get an illness and I sure as hell don't care if I give it to someone I don't know and they die, It is my self evident right to behave like a totally self-centered prick. That is democracy!"

Actually that is not democracy. A democracy is about surrendering some rights for the good of the many.(self centered "rights" that are likely to hurt others)

If you really want to see what difference the Australian approach made, had the US done as well your death toll would have been about 16 to 18 thousand rather than the 700 thousand plus reported by john hopkins.

** Think that is called the " rule of law ", an essential part of democracy.

Democracy means the public gets to decide what the laws are, by direct or indirect voting. Then we agree to abide by them for everyone's benefit. Crucial to this idea actually working is that the pubic are well informed and understand their own interests. Of course they are neither nor do they generally consider that laws must not be in conflict with each other.

The latter is where all the " fun " begins.

John Doe doesn't know what reasoning, or a refutation, would look like. Flyguy does make the attempt, but when the evidence that Flyguy cites turns out to support my case rather his, one can see why John Doe doesn't bother. That does make Jon Doe a liar, but he's probably too stupid to realise that he is lying.

Quite why John Doe insists on snipping the material that the thread is discussing isn't obvious. He may be trying to make the point that he dislikes me, rather than my arguments, but it does make nonsense of his implicit claim to have ever advanced a reasoned refutation - I certainly can't recall seeing one from him.

As I should have mentioned this is one more of those single anecdotal examples. The way it is written it sounds as if the lady in question shot somebody and then planted a gun on her victim so she had a story to tell to the police about the incident.

That's what you like to think, and since you reject anything that disagrees with your world view - which is over-simplified to the point where it s totally unrealistic - most of your comments are entirely worthless. You still haven't woken up to the fact that the Heritage Foundation report admits that it is reporting unverified - and unverifiable - claims and still expect me to take it seriously.

Your post placed this line before the my quotes from the Heritage Foundation report, so your capacity to reject inconvenient facts was made remarkably obvous

Did what?

That may be claimed in the study. What is fairly obvious is that most of the "potential crime" existed only in the imaginations of the gun-waving idiots who frightened lots of their neighbours with psychotic exhibitions of threatening behaviour to deter totally imaginary threats.

Of course Flyguy has the childish habit of calling me "Snipperman" whenever he feels like being offensive, which is most of the time

Flyguy will accept the most implausible nonsense if it fits the absurd story he wants to tell, and is completely incapable of appreciable how foolish and gullible this make him look.
