ANOTHER ADOBE GRIPE

Oh, and I love the following message, happens all the time while googling.

"Adobe reader could not read XXXXYYYY.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file is damaged."

Just say the file is encypted.

Granted I'm using Acrobat v7 instead of Reader, but I have NO problems/crashes/whatever viewing PDF materials, web or otherwise.

Firefox 3.0.9, XP Pro SP2

What are you guys doing?

Often, a link to a pdf is actually redirected to a downlink portal.

Saving the link target with a pdf file extension produces something that isn't a pdf document and produces the message you are noticing.

The file may sometimes be read as html or text, if examined more closely.

Another problem is large files being truncated before completion.

Encrypted files are seldom listed in simple google search enquiries.

might help you. I found it can't handle every nuance of pdf, but I haven't use Foxit in a while.

So far I have found the latest version of Foxit can handle everything that Acrobat Reader could - and it's smaller and at least as fast. I have now given Acrobat the boot.....

It's just as likely that you've just gotten a partial download. At least that's the usual reason I see that error.

I can't use it because it will not run in wine. Funny though acrobat for Linux does not seem to crash for me. Suse 10.3 and Firefox 3.0.9. /=20
