Knuth published a (visually) beautiful book of Bible studies too, based on a typically CS approach: chapter 3 verse 16 of every book in the Bible (at least all those that have a Chapter 3--a couple are too short).

Each one is presented in beautiful calligraphy by some of the leading calligraphers in the world. (Doing TeX, Knuth got to know the famous font desgner Hermann Zapf, who put him in touch with all those folks.)

It's called "3:16", unsurprisingly. He's a Lutheran, so the finer details of his theology are more Joerg's cup of tea than mine, but it's still an excellent book.

Cheers

Bizarre. Donald Knuth seemed perfectly rational the one time I met him (at a university get-together in Belgium) but Lutherans are pretty weird. They take the Bible much more seriously than it deserves - Spinoza got to be wil dly unpopular with Lutherans (and others) for treating the Bible as just on e more human-generated document (which was a revolutionary idea at the time ).
