I read in sci.electronics.design that Dbowey wrote (in ) about 'AM receiver chips?', on Sun, 19 Dec 2004:

A Google turned up that there is an avalanche research institute at Davos:

The site doesn't give any details of the radio beacon system. (But

*another* site says the frequency is 457 MegaHz!) The site is also largely in German - it may help to know that 'Lawin' is 'avalanche'.

However, you could contact the Institute in English, and if they don't set the requirement for the radio system, I'm sure they know who does.

Thanks a bunch. Both links were good reading. The Barryvox units look very cool. It was good of Barryvox to include an Engish option.

The first link was indirectly, a real high payoff by providing the ETS Standard information. I did a google search on ets 300 718, and the first item on the list was a PDF download of the "Report Form for Testing to ETS 300 718." The frequencies, on-off timing, their tolerances, etc. are all there.

Digi-Key sells them for $7.30 in quantities of one.
