Another way would be to put an emitter follower with a good heatsink in series with the DC supply,

He can adapt a high effciency switching converter to PWM a much lower rippl e frequency voltage on the battery without significantly affecting the seri es impedance or wasting lots of power. And there's no problem finding high frequency transformers that take the 30A DC.
Any similarity at all to your practices, "liestyle" and beliefs...
But it's a one-off, Fred. Engineering time matters.
With a transformer, the OP will be on the air in minutes. The series impedance isn't going to be a big factor, I shouldn't think, not with a
2-turn secondary with mains power on the primary. Impedance goes like the turns ratio squared, after all. And any of the active ideas are going to waste more power than a transformer!Cheers

I can help with that. I've got exactly that alternator sitting right here. I think it has about 2 vpp of ripple, but I don't recall exactly. I did drag the scope out to the truck to see for sure and yup, it was there. Once I got it apart I could see the burnt remains of one diode. No way to replace just one that I could see and the bridge costs over $40. A used alternator was no more than that *with* the shipping. Got a spare one of those with a bent pulley too.

with s***ty filtering and just add it to the battery voltage. If they want ripple, which is obviously to be able to tell if a device is vulnerable to ripple, they are not worried about an extra volt. So three volts AC, minus two junction drops per the bridge rectifier will give you about a volt lef tover.

Get a 300VA toroidal tranny and wind your own secondary on it - use damn t hink wire or wind turns in parallel to get about 2.5 volts rms ( probably a round 25 turns) and connect them to a 40 amp bridge mounted on a heatsink.
Battery plus to bridge minus and then bridge plus to the load.
The bridge eliminates any DC component in the tranny and gives a ripple fre quency twice that of the AC supply - which IS what you need.

PV was and remains out of any considerations on the projet ; remember that it is working in a VERY harsh environnement (not even on electrical aspects but on mechanical accelerations)
This project was delivered in november (Huyndai Rotem) and has passed all I EC 61000-XX tests ; 50 prototypes are in service at this very moment. The s imple architecture is built on 7 MOSFET's I generators in series (based on ideas from Larkin and others may be JT i did not remember) but you ! you ar e are always on sterile and poor criticisms ! you blog bloogy.
